GAME DESCRIPTION

A game for the Comodore Amiga that takes you into a brutal, futuristic world of speed and skill! Developed by Bitmap Brothers back in 1990, this sequel to the original Speedball game was set in a dystopian future where violent sports ruled. Inspired by iconic films like Rollerball, Speedball 2 thrust you into the heart of a brutal sport where goals and injuries were both celebrated—and rewarded.

The game was released for a whopping array of platforms, catering to various retro gamers: Acorn Archimedes, Atari Jaguar, Atari ST, Amiga, Amiga CD32, IBM PC compatibles, Commodore 64, Mega Drive (yes, it was there!), Master System, Game Boy, and even the portable Game Boy Advance. The first version hit shelves in 1990, simultaneously released for both the Amiga and Atari ST.

In this sequel, each team had nine players on court, upping the ante from just five in the original. Plus, hitting targets on the floor and walls could net you bonus points, making each goal count even more. The standard reward for a goal was 10 points, but with the use of score multiplier ramps on the walls, you could boost that to a whopping 15 or 20 points. The thrill of an injury? You got the same number of points for causing harm to an opposing player, and in a brutal twist, the injured players were promptly replaced by substitutes. If all three substitutes went down, the game got real as the injured player had to soldier on regardless.

The game offered five modes: knockout, cup, league, practice, and multiplayer. Each match lasted a brisk 180 seconds, split into two intense halves. So, gear up for thrills and spills as you dive headfirst into the brutal beauty of Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe.
